There is a list of rectors on the Dorset OPC website which shows your ancestor as the incumbent in 1922. Hope this helps

Do you have a list of reverend's who served in this church? I have a family tree that has a picture of my great grandfather, the Rev John Lynes and a picture of this church. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance. Pat Sanguedolce

Don't know anything specific about Chalbury Common, but it is not unusual the name Common to persist long after the common land has disappeared. This can happen either through formal enclosure or, as seems more likely in this case, through encroachment by squatters. The Dorset Record Office in Dorchester has copies of all the enclosure awards and maps, and may be able to provide further information.

Have lived in Chalbury for 3 years and have many mood pictures of Horton Tower. My question is the area is called Chalbury Common, but there is no Common Land, why is this?

Sorry, I can't help you there. I've never come across the name, but if I find anything out I'll let you know
