Built high on the side of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons), few other canals in the UK can rival the Monmouthshire & Brecon for beautiful surroundings.
Just about the right length for a weeks leisurely cruising with half-a-dozen locks, an aqueduct (albeit a small one), a short tunnel, plenty of canal-side pubs and lots of other points of interest, the Mon & Brec is an ideal introduction to the delights of a canal holiday.
If only it wasn't quite so shallow.
