Got it

Location

Pembrokeshire Map

When most people think of Fishguard they probably associate it with the Fishguard-Rosslare ferry. Indeed the majority of people who go to Fishguard never get there, because the ferry terminal is, in fact, in the nearby settlement of Goodwick (Wdig).

The main town is situated on the top of the hill on the other side of the valley from the port. But, even this is not the original settlement of Abergwaum; that is at the bottom of the next valley round the old fishing harbour, now referred to as Lower Town.

As delightfully as any Cornish fishing village, it is well worth the diversion.

The Druids Circle

Location

Pembrokeshire Map

The Druids Circle in Fishguard is not an ancient neolithic structure; it's an example of a Gorsedd stone circle.

These are are groups of standing stones constructed for the National Eisteddfod, and can be found throughout Wales. They form an integral part of the druidic Gorsedd ceremonies of the Eisteddfod.

This circle was originally constructed for the 1936 Eisteddfodd, which visited again in 1986.
