Sherborne has many architectural treasures, but the jewel in the crown has to be the fan-vaulted ceilings of Sherborne Abbey.
Elsewhere in the town there is much else to see, including the Almshouses of St John the Baptist and St John the Evangelist, the Steam and Waterwheel Centre, Sherborne Old Castle and its later replacement Sherborne Castle.
Just north of the town at Poynington (map) is one of Dorset's four Red Posts.
There is an interesting Town Trail that starts from the Tourist Information Centre opposite the Abbey Church, from where you can obtain the leaflet.
