I was there only today, it was lovely. And yes, it's easy to cross now, although I would still recommend wellies as the area around the stream is very boggy.

I think the footbridge at Rakes Brakes Bottom has been improved with a longer "causeway" section across the marshy ground on the northern side of the river channel. The wildlife in this area is wonderful...but you're right about the non-existent way-marking. A decent map and a compass are essential!

That's good news. When I was there the causeway stopped about 3m short of the far shore (if you see what I mean). I spent ages up there trying to document a route, but finally had to admit defeat.
