Like King Charlesʼs Castle on the other side of Tresco, the Old Blockhouse was begun in 1548
in the reign of the boy king Edward VI.
As the plan on the English Heritage Display Board shows, it consists of a paved four-sided platform
that could have accommodated up to three guns, and a small garrison room with a fireplace.
Not much to look at as a place, but the views are tremendous.
