The Cadfan Stone
Only when you step inside do you realise that the Nave is much, much older.
Indeed the church can claim to have been founded by the Celtic saint St Cadfan in 561 AD, although the nave dates from the twelfth century.
St Cadfan's Church
On display in the church are two stones, one of which is quite remarkable. This is the Cadfan Stone, which is believed to date from the eighth century, and is inscribed with what many claim to be the oldest recorded example of written Welsh.
The other is a prayer sundial from roughly the same period, that was later used as a milestone.
Look out for the old cello which was used by the church band that used to accompany the services before the organ was built in 1910.
