Standing on Wells Beach on a hot summerʼs day, if you half-close your eyes and pretend that the pine trees are palm trees, you could almost fool yourself that you were in the Caribbean.
If it werenʼt for the fact that the sea breeze is just a little too keen, that is. Even the enormous storm that was brewing when I was there, had an almost tropical flavour to it.
There are nice walks along the beach and back through the belt of pines protecting the reclaimed salt marshes behind Holkham Bay.
