The official signposted car park for Tout Quarry Sculpture Park is a desolate bit of waste ground tucked away around the back of a small industrial estate, and I have to say I was not entirely happy about leaving even my old jalopy there unattended.
Much better, and more fun, is to park in one of the car parks on the top of the Verne and walk to the quarry from there. Depending where you park, this walk is around 1.6 km (1.5 mls) but it can easily be extended (or shortened for that matter).
If you are feeling brave, when you get to the top of Fortuneswell village, turn left up the minor Vern Hill Road where the main road swings round to the right to start the climb up the cliff face to the top of Portland, and park in the first car park you come to.
If you miss this turning, carry on up the main road and take the first left off the roundabout at the top of the hill.
