For people of a certain age, Caernarfon will always be associated with the investiture of the Prince of Wales in 1969, a fairytale event in a fairy-tail setting.
Walking on to the circular dais that still remains in the centre of the inner bailey, it seemed almost more difficult to relate to those dim distant times than it does to the times of Edward I, the castle's builder.
Perhaps it is easier to imagine times that you never experienced than it is to remember times that you did.
