Built in the early nineteenth century, for nearly 200 years Stapehill Abbey was home to a silent order of nuns. The nun's chapel is still a place of great peace and serenity.
Elsewhere the buildings are occupied by various local craftsmen, there is a Countryside Museum and the Home Farm to explore, together with the gardens which are constantly being developed.
Check the East Dorset District Council website for opening times etc.
